upcoming event news: VOLUNTEER at CIDER DAys for the CRFG DEMO
Want to step back in time and enjoy one of the area's popular fall events? Volunteer as a demonstrator for Lakewood's Cider Days!
Cider Days
-- a celebration of all things apple! --
October 4 and 5, 2025, at the Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park, 801 South Yarrow (just southwest of Alameda and Wadsworth)
The center's historic buildings will be open and demonstrations in the past have included -- us! -- as well as weaving and spinning, lacemaking, knitting, embroidery, buttermaking, beekeeping, blacksmithing, vintage farm equipment and a WWI sock knitting machine, and more.
Amusements: cider pressing, goat walkabouts, dancing, music, pie eating contest, straw bale maze, tractor pull and rides, craft vendors and food.
Make it a fun family day!
The Colorado Rug and Fiber Guild will be demonstrating in the air conditioned (!) Caretaker's Cottage where we have been the last several years. All volunteers receive free admission to the Cider Days Event for the day that they volunteer.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Our volunteer shifts are full day (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) or half day (9 a.m. - 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.). Last year, the heritage center provided lunch for full day volunteers -- this has not yet been confirmed for this year. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own lunch or there are food vendors offering BBQ, bratwurst, pies, burgers, all things apple and more. Snacks are provided and the cottage has a kitchen with a refrigerator.
The guild provides demo materials, signage, brochures and give away ATHA magazines. Volunteers are asked to bring a frame, a project that is in progress, your hook/s and one or two rugs, pillows, etc. for the display. Your supplies and rugs come and go with you. We have a table set up for folks to try rug hooking and rug punching and guild volunteers take turns guiding those interested in trying the techniques.
Always a fun couple of days!!
The Colorado Rug and Fiber Guild Demonstration is very popular with the event attendees. Come and join the fun!
Please respond to this call for Volunteers ASAP with the day/s you are able to demonstrate and whether you are able to do a full day or half day (please specify which half).
