Our meeting in September was phenomenal! We had 3 program demos. . . starting with Pam Sisk giving a great demo on marbelizing. She brought in many samples of her marbelized fabrics and showed how to utilize both recycled and new wool with this technique.
Our guild Vice President, Jenny Schechter, gave a fascinating description and history of the LuLu technique. She brought in a rug that she has been working on that employs that technique and another example completed by guild member Sandy Walker. Jenny showed how to do the LuLu and talked about how to identify patterns that would accommodate the wide loops.
Our third program was provided by Leah Karo who talked about proddy and different ways to use this technique in your rugs. Leah brought a large piece that she is working on and pulled some wool proddy just using a regular rug hook — showing that there is no need for any specialized tools!
There was a lot of shared enthusiasm for all of the programs and I am sure that much of what was learned at this meeting will be utilized to enhance many rugs in the future!
Our guild members decided in August to utilize guild funds to purchase some bolts of backing and a bolt of red dot pattern paper. Quink Arlt has agreed to be the "Keeper of the Linen"! Please email Quink (on the home page of this website) with your yardage requirement and she will be happy to cut the fabric and bring to the next meeting!
